A few quick updates/reminders for end of year:
We look forward to our Kinder Picnic rain or shine on Monday! Please pack a nut-free lunch for your child and family members. Pizza can be eaten later in the afternoon as a snack or will be sent home but will not be available during our picnic due to timing.
Please take a look at our Lost and Found after our Kinder Picnic on Monday. We have many unlabeled items. All items that are not claimed will be donated on Wednesday.
Kinders will remain at school on Tuesday when the older students attend mass at Holy Redeemer. We look forward to celebrating our own liturgy that morning and it will be a wonderful way to end the year.
If your child will not be attending school on the last day please let us know so that we can send all personal belongings home the day prior.
Blankets will go home today and should be kept at home.
Tuesday June 27 will be Board Games day. You can send a Board Game from home-Remember your child is responsible for their game/pieces.
Thanks for a wonderful year!
Dear Parents,
The Kindergarten Picnic scheduled for tomorrow will be postponed due to an inclement weather forecast.
It will be rescheduled for Monday, June 26th.
**Please note a TIME CHANGE of 10:30-12:30 **
In the event of rain on Monday, the picnic will be held indoors.
Thanks for your understanding,
The Kindergarten Staff

Have a lovely day!
So much fun today! Our sensory activity had us explore the biggest animal on earth, the big blue whale.
The art table offered us the possibility to write our names by letter stamping them onto paper
The science/wonder table had a real pumpkin for us to explore, with magnifying glasses and colors to inquire all about it....
With Thanksgiving just around the corner we wanted to give a special thanks to the people and things that help us and make us happy along the way, so our class made up this wonderful sunrise poster to express their appreciation .
This table top activity is all about printing our names by using paint brushes and water to easily erase and try over again.
Learning how to count and recognize numbers can also turn into a fine motor skill activity when you need to insert small macaroni pasta into the right pipe cleaner number space. Great fun!
Autumn leaves, sticks and pine cones were used to spike up our imagination while composing our little masterpieces to be displayed in our special classroom art wall. These are just a taste of the many activities we have tried out this week. Stay tuned as there are many more exciting things our way!
Meanwhile a blessed Thanksgiving from our class to all your families as it is a time to create happy memories with family and friends.

Apple Sauce
Today our class was imbued with the delicious smell of homemade applesauce! After counting and slicing the apples we had the pleasure to taste its sweetness. One of our students had a triple serving! :) WONDERING ABOUT GOURDS We had previously weighed and measured our gourds and today we wanted to discover more so we cut its hard surface and ventured to discover the inside with various utensils... and it made for some interesting inquiry. When wondering what to do with the seeds one of our students cleverly said "why don't we plant them so that we can have more gourds" and so we did! With the remainder of the gourd seeds we decided to toast them up with some sunflower oil and salt, were they ever tasty... "they actually taste like popcorn!" |
Jack O Lantern
It was very exciting to make our very own Jack O Lantern as Holloween is fast approaching.
Reminders - All Kinders will be permitted to wear a holloween costume on top of their own clothes so that they can take it off if they please, i.e. during recess. Please do not have your children wear masks, bring weapons or make up on their faces. These are the general guidelines that the whole school will be adopting for Holloween @ school.
AM of the 31st : We will parade our costumes by going class to class so that the whole school can admire our awesome costumes.
PM of the 31st - The kinders will participate in the Dance - A - Thon from 2pm to 2:40 pm. We will surely have a ball!

We would like to ask you to please leave Holloween treats home and stay tuned as soon we will be uploading some pictures taken at our dance-a-thon. Thank you! Mme. Sandri & Ms. Daly
Colouring our playdough is always a good idea...
I need to apologize for not including the dance-a-thon pictures promised but they are on a different device which I do not have today...these photos are a few of the activities done in class this week.
Time flies and Remembrance Day is fast approaching, if students could like to contribute to the legion they can bring in a loonie for this occasion. For our Remembrance Day Service which is Nov. 11 at 11am we would like all students to wear red. They will all be getting a poppy sticker before entering the service and it will be peace based. Thank you so much and enjoy this wonderful weather outdoors while it lasts :) Mme. Sandri & Ms. Daly |

As I promised, this is the title of a book that has so much to do with all of our lives, and if you are a parent or a teacher, even more. I went to a conference about it and I have personally listened to Dr. Stuart Shanker and can highly recommend this read as it will become ever so useful as the years go by. The title is: Self-Reg: How to Help Your Child (and You) Break the Stress Cycle and Successfully Engage with Life. This is the link where you will find more info on it: https://self-reg.ca/about-us-4/dr-stuart-shanker/
I am also including an awesome play dough recipe, the same one we use in our classroom. You may add food colouring to make it more interesting and the numbers on the side is to double the quantity. I'm sure your child will love making it with you.
Have an awesome week-end, Mme. Sandri and & Mrs. Daly

Forest School was lots of fun this morning, I got some nice videos of the students but could not upload them here, unfortunately. We are sure lucky to have this temperature at this time of year and the things they are exploring are so varied such as: bark, wild blueberries, dried mushrooms etc...not to mention pretending to be on a surfboard while surfing the waves and rowing a boat while standing/sitting on a log :) Wonderful to hear and see their imagination go loose!

Some random photos for you to enjoy!
Hello to all!
This is to inform all of you that I now have a Twitter account @MmeSandri which I am kindly asking you to follow as when I tweet you are immediately notified of it. I also find it to be userfriendlier than the blog, I hope you will like it as much as I do. :)
This evening you must have noticed that your child has a snuggle book in his/her mailbag, yes indeed it is time to start reading and with the holiday vacations around the corner I am sure that your child will love the cuddly evenings with mommy and/or daddy while snuggled with a book to read together.
Wishing you all a lovely evening, Mme. Sandri

Tomorrow our K2 class will be having a PJ, stuffy and movie day because they"ve reached a whole class reward for tidying up. If the class is able to tidy safely before all 3 songs are done and everyone helps, they get a "tidy up ticket". Once the class earns 10, we get to participate in a fun activity chosen by the children.
